PC/Linux PCI digital-I/O Card Software Setup

Remember to first upgrade or install to Pogle Platinum for Linux v640 (or greater) - after following the additional requirements for newer versions of the Pogle Platinum software.

Service Setup

Follow all of the instructions below when the PC/Linux digital-I/O software is set up the first time; otherwise when this software is upgraded automatically in the future (via Pogle Platinum), the 'bluefish' service is already added to the system and will restarted when the PC/Linux machine is rebooted (if requested).

Login as the 'root' user (quit Pogle Platinum and log out as the user 'pogle' if necessary).

Start the 'Services' configuration program:

Select the 'Add Service' option from the 'Actions' menu:

Type 'bluefish' in the 'Add Service' dialog and click 'OK':

Now:

  1. Ensure the 'bluefish' service is 'ticked'
  2. Click the 'Save' button (so that the software is started each time the PC/Linux machine is booted)
  3. Click the 'Start' button to launch the service directly (click 'OK' finally):

Check that the status shows a device of the form 'BlueFishCardN' (normally N = 0) has been started:

Log out  as the 'root' user and login as normal (as the 'pogle' user) to start Pogle Platinum.

Notes

  1. The 'Restart' action is currently not supported - use 'Stop' followed by 'Start'.
  2. If the 'Start' action causes the PC/Linux machine to hang, the power must be recycled to recover the machine; the software will start when the machine is booting, so it is safe to log in as user 'pogle' and start Pogle Platinum as normal.
